Hey guys, me and my mate are planning a week to england this summer for mainly carp. So far anglers paradise is the venue were looking at as it has probobly most coarse fish. Does anybody have any suggestions on a reasonably priced venue that we will have a chance of getting a 25lb+ carp or maybe even a 35lb+ carp. Also for the venue would 3 shimano st6000's,3 3lb tc daiwa black widows and 15lb fox soft steel line be ok for holding big carp.

Kyle,
Please dont take this the wrong way, but judging by the questions you are asking about tackle etc, you are not ready to catch 35 pound carp.

We are talking about a live animal that at that size, MUST be handled with care and an experienced hand. Do you have a big enough landing net? Do you have a big enough mat or cradle, do you know how heavy 35 pounds of wet, slippy, slimy, thrashing Carp is?

Carp fishing is about oh so much more than size. Get to a water that allows you to catch lots of smaller fish, doubles are fantastic fun, and use the experience to build your skills.

If you set you hearts on fishing waters that throw up 35 pound fish I bet you are sitting around for a very very long time and not catching anything and wondering what Carp fishing is all about.

As I say, please dont take it the wrong way, this is a bit of genuine friendly advice that I would give to anyone taking there first steps into carp fishing.
:D

Anglers Paradise and White Acres are both good venues as they have many lakes on each complex where you can try your hand. Some lakes are best float fished, others can be fished with "carp tactics"..but to tell the truth, there is nothing better than taking a carp on a float/floater, especially under the rod tips of other anglers ;)

Loads of info on both online.

Are you heading to that area or is it that you have only heard of these waters. There are quite a few other waters much closer where you can fill ya boots with carp :)

anglers paradise is a great venue. going down again at end of july for a week for the fourth time, great sport on the smaller lakes especially the beginners carp, first year we went me and my m8 had around 30 carp each up to 11 pounds average size between 5 and 6 just using cat meat. had loads of high doubles from the bigger lakes last year and lost a big cat at the net. hopefully this year should produce a few biggies.

cheers

ive heard of loads of waters but anglers paradise is the one that was most appealing. i'd probs be fishing the specimen lakes for carp , using carp tactics and going for a big one.

thats up to you mate but whats the point in travelling all the way down there for a big one when theres places around blackpool the hold carp nudging 40s. its more of a pleasure trip down there with the ornamental species which you wouldnt catch anywhere up here, well could but not as many as there. Just dont drink to much of his rocket fuel or ul end up in a lake like me slipping on the platform swim during the day when been raining
