Turns out the Monklands canal was not included in the deal between the SFCA and British Waterways :(

Cheers

I'm going for a wee nosey about

I fished this place once for a few hours with a float rod I think. :?:

Still worth joining the sfca me thinks.
Should have joined it a long time ago.

Posters and booklets for angling on the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals which include application forms for season permits will be in tackle shops and the canal centres etc very soon.
Was out yesterday taking some photos for them in the sunshine and with wobbly water

Cheers
Saul

hey guys, back form the clean up. was a bit disapointed at the lack of people involved.

Me and Denis and my mate made a wee dent. i cant put enough emphasis on the word WEE! we covered a few hundred meters and together we collected all of this CRAP.with the help of a few pesky primary school kids :P

Image

also we found a dead cat, i also spotted oil drums, an old microwave. Things that Phil martin assured me were removed form here, he will be receiving an angry email tonight about the state of this place!

here is some images of the censored we couldn't reach

I couldn't see the cars due to the ice but i am certain they are still there, i will have a look when it clears.

cheers

Chris

Hi,
when I see all that stuff it really reminds me how good
the SCG waters are. No were in Scotland is perfect, but some places are
in one hell of a mess.

Most of the litter is alcohol related and probably just needs a
patrol from a couple of beat bobbies now and again to catch the
folks drinking and they will probably go drink somewhere else.

The school kids helping is a great idea.

There are plans to improve this stretch of the canal, so hopefully the future looks
good but only time will tell. 8)

I saw fish fry when I first arrived. :)
Denis.

yeah getting the kids more involved is a good plan to improve the future. i was reading the plans for the canal on the leaflet we got given at the end denis. looks promising, but i can see it being a beverage area. as you say it needs the police, i am going email phil today and tell him it is a state! i quote him "we were very concerned about the rubbish you described, we were not aware of oil drums, tyres or cars" is he BLIND!
