 What bait for first time ever

Hi all looking to go fishing very soon but not to sure what would be best bait. Never done this befor so all advice welcome. Also if anyone is will to put up with me and take me out some time would be appreciated. I live in Edinburgh but can drive but would like to go close to home for first outing cheers

No different to your course angling approach... Just apply the same techniques. Carp can be caught trotting, ledgering, float fished, free-lined etc.... Just refine your tackle and technique to the situation you are fishing... Locating and observing Carp in their environment will be a good learning curve for you. You don't have to 'pile it in', and all Carp will take bread, casters, maggots, hemp, sweetcorn..... Boilies are a good way of getting around the species you don't want to target, as are nuts (wouldn't advise using unless you are sure about preparation times. Can be bought prepared).. Don't get bamboozled by baloney 'MUST HAVE' baits and liquids you see in magazines every week.... :)
