The SFCA are now looking into the situation and are in touch with Marine Scotland ( Scottish Government ) regarding various issues brought to light in the article.

Not sure how he comes to the conclusion that Char are sustainable. They are protected on Lochs Eck, Insch, Builg, Girlsta and Doon directly, and indirectly on all lochs with SSSI status. Thye are also on the UKBAP Priority List.

Priority species and habitats are those that have been identified as being the most threatened and requiring conservation action under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP).

Have had a bite in the The Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha along with a good few pints when the fishing has been slow, might give the char a bash the next time i,m up, cheers for the heads up. :)

correct me if I am wrong but the trouble we are having with pike being removed from the waters is:
I have always been told (by scottish course angling team members) that jack pike (3lb and under) you are allowed to "keep" any thing above this must be returned unharmed. Now if I have been informed correctly this would mean the pike he is taking would be allowed providing they are jacks. The Char I Know are a no good !!!!
