Use it a lot for Perch...it's got advantages, and its got disadvantages :)

In the right water if can be really really good. If you know where the Perch are holding you can get a bait to skip and dance in front of there noses, and they just cannot resist. I have seen people cast out, then retrieve the lure...that's not what its about. The true art is to get a lure to sit in one place and entice the fish. If nothing happens, you lift the rod an move the lure a few feet before working it again.

Works best from a canal bank, jetties, platforms and boats. If you have a steep shelf to a flat bottom, that works too. Not so good for shallow or flowing water.

If the water contains lots of pike, I would not bother. Even biggish pike inhale the tiny lures and you will end up getting bitten off. As the lures are small and barbless, they may not cause an issue, but why risk it. Using a wire leader mans you wont get bites from Perch..they have great eye sight and just steer clear.

I use a Shimano Exage 2500 with 7lb braid, a fluro bottom and a Polish made rod by Dragon Lure Rods. (Not the cheap Dragon Carp stuff, different company). Really light set up. Lovely to use.
