The impossible question...lol

A lot depends on what the tench are feeding on. If a lake sees a lot of fishmeal boillies then a fishmeal based method mix works wonders...etc etc.

However, good old Vitalin made up with Molasses works on most waters.

Tench like sweet things and Molasses is an all time attractor for them

However, if I was on a canal I would be a little more subtle and fish small open end feeders over a bed of brown crumb, hemp, casters and corn with of course, molasses.

Or even better, a couple of windbeater floats fished lift style.

Oh..and red groundbait can work well too...and small red worms..and red maggots...

Arrrgh..Tench take most things to tell the truth, once they get there heads down. On Loch Maben they have switched on to Pellets as som much goes in now.

I'm rather fond of sensas lake groundbait either the brown or red, small amount of hemp and sweetcorn, chopped boilies/ boilie crumb, some vitalin and then a good dollop of molasses. I had a shedload of tench last year on cell, so I would try a short hooklink, size 10 or 12 hook and a hair rigged 10mm cell or 12mm Barrel or 1/2 a 12mm barrel!
